Meet Gizmo

As if life weren't crazy enough right now, we went and made it a little crazier............

Sir Chester got a brother.

It all started with a photo on Facebook that a friend shared..........

This little baby was available at a shelter.........named Gizmo..........and about three months old.

To make a long story short, the mister surprised me by calling the shelter and arranging to adopt him on Saturday.  We are definitely pro-shelter-adoption people, and the folks of Tastc were lovely.  They even switched his neutering appointment for us, so it could be done prior to bringing him home.

And aside from a sleepless night (thanks to our giddy firstborn, not our new baby) we are smitten.  We think Gizmo sums up that face perfectly.  So Gizmo it will stay.

Now for the million dollar question..........

How many and what types of breed make Gizzy so darn precious?

Lately

School started.........

Back to living for the weekends and being super busy.

But that's okay.  I had a great first week of school.

*   *   *   *

I put these louvered doors from our old laundry room into my new booth........

THEY SOLD!!!!!  Yesssss!

*   *   *   *

I worked on the laundry room a little........

On a whim I painted the inside of the medicine cabinet green.  And I love it.

Also, I had been hoarding that green corner shelf for well over ten years.

Totally not joking.

Finally, I have the perfect home for it.

And lastly, I ended my first week of work with great friends at a concert........

Two things......

1.  That is totally not me singing.

2.  Shouldn't Journey be on everyone's bucket list?

Diary of a Laundry Room

Since buying my 1967 time capsule in 2006, I slowly renovated one room at time.  The last room to need a major overhaul was the laundry room.......

I had a specific vision for it.  Light and airy with a vintage cottage vibe.

Renovations got underway last Monday.

When I got home that day, I discovered that they had installed the cement board, repaired the walls, and painted a bit.........

Day two was much more exciting to come home to.  I had tile.......

Day three was fun too.  I arrived home to find minty green walls and grouted tile.........

But on day four the room really started to take shape.  My custom counter was installed.  Wainscoting adorned the walls.  And we got a working toilet............

Day five consisted of finishing up small things...........more painting.........changing out old switches and fixtures for new...........and moving the washer and dryer back in.

And that's where Bob's work ended (our contractor).

The rest is up to us.  Dad is making my shelves for above the counter.  And I need to finish painting our cabinet doors.

School has started.  So these last few details may take some time.

Here's where we are currently.........

I'm giddy.

I'll be even more giddy when I can share a completely finished room.

Oh, and what sayeth you on cutting up this vintage feedsack material for curtains?

The End of Summer

Tonight I have to remember how to program the coffeepot for an early alarm tomorrow.

Summer is over.

My to do list for the last few months was mostly accomplished.  I got in plenty of rest.  And I had fun.

I closed out summer with my favorite girls last week in St. Louis......

We shopped.  We ate.  We met up with a blog buddy!

And we saw Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson........

You know how I feel about Kelly

It was an amazing concert.  I don't think we stopped dancing or singing for one minute.

Visiting Urban Outfitters and Trader Joe's didn't hurt either.  More cookie butter, a fun sweater and shoes, and some concert t-shirts.

A great way to end summer.

Until next year.

Thrifting Frenzy

Lately, the thrifting has been good!

I know opening a second booth was for the purpose of cleaning out my garage, but things have been flying out of both spaces!  I put one of my favorite pieces in last week, and it was gone the day I posted about it!

So with sales increasing (knock on wood) a girl has to keep her inventory up.

That means I have to thrift.

Such a burden.

Here are just a few of the things I've found lately.......

That quilt up there?  Mine-all-mine.

The afghan?  So torn.  Unusual pattern and great color scheme.

An umbrella with sweet scalloped edges?  I die.

Luckily, I have already priced the salt and pepper shakers.  And I have no need for three mug trees.  One is surely enough.  But which color?

Decisions, decisions.

P.S.  To see photos of items I add to my booths, follow This Vintage Grove on Facebook!
