Weekly Recap (in Instagram)

Happy Independence Day!

I love everything about this holiday.  Food, family, fireworks, and my favorite gals.......

The Hoodenpyle's always host a fun shindig.

*   *   *   *

I had a little fun in the sun.........

My friend Pullan invited me to White Water!

The wave pool was a big hit with Pullan's little lady (the grown-ups might have liked it too).

*   *   *   *

My friend Schlager surprised me with something I've been longing to try........

It is every bit as good as the hype claims!

(So good that I hid it from the mister.)

*   *   *   *

It's not every day that a celebrity comes to town.

And your friend convinces you to spend your entire afternoon watching him make elephants disappear.........

We spent most of the day on the right side of the caution tape.

It wasn't until the end that we were feeling a little wild.  Brave.

Then we got caught.

*   *   *   *

And finally.

The laundry room renovation took its first step.

Bob came to give me a bid..........

I am so excited.

I am so obsessed.

I'm sorry if you follow me on Pinterest.  My new pins dedicated to this project might be littering your feed.

But who doesn't love a pedestal sink?

What Should I Wear

So a dress has been found for a wedding next week.

I think.

It's an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception.  This is what I found.....

Thanks Gap Outlet!!!

If the dress passes the test, my problem then becomes accessories.

I.need.help.

Do I go with a pop of color?  Gold?  Silver?  Ivory?

turquoise  //  collar  //  chain  //  pearls

I just don't know.

Are these all wrong?

Steer me in the right direction.

And don't even get me started on the shoes.  Black?  Ivory?  Nude?

But wait.  What about the dress?

Do I just play it safe with this one?

Gap (last year)

I'm so confused.

HELP ME!!!!

Thrifting Frenzy

You already know I'm a hoarder.

I have a garage full of items for my booth

So do I need to continue to thrift?

No.

Yes.

Anyway.

Here are my latest goodies...........

Proving that I do part with things, these went in the booth and already sold.......

And in more booth news, Relics recently offered dealers the chance to have a link on their official site, so you know I jumped on that.

However, I don't know anything about WordPress, so it's a work in progress.  WordPress geniuses of the world.......how do you make pictures larger?

And how is it already July?

Slow it down summer.

This Week (in Instagram)

This recap takes me all the way back to last Friday........to the annual garage sale.......where Nancy and I showed up in matching shirts........

We love our Kelly.

And yes, someone did buy the Christmas tree.

*   *   *   *

We attended a fun little gathering Sunday evening.........

And while there was a fire, we didn't make S'mores.

Why?

Because I got busy in the kitchen earlier that day and made Baked S'mores (no fire necessary)......

These are so good.  Simple recipe too.  One I'll put on repeat for sure.

*   *   *   *

Public Service Announcement:  Steak 'n Shake has red velvet milkshakes right now........

Being too lazy to make dinner the other night led to this realization.

See the benefits of being lazy?

You should probably go try one.  (They have salted caramel too.)

*   *   *   *

When your parents tell you that their neighbor is getting rid of some things, you check it out.........

And then they tell you it's all free.

Free.  Vintage.  Plant stand.

Forget the booth.

Get on my porch!

Tribal Print Obsession

I'm not joking.

I am totally obsessed with all things tribal.

I went to look for a dress to wear to an upcoming wedding and came home with two tribal print items instead.

First up, this Forever 21 top......

similar

It was only $12.80!!!

For that price, it would basically be unjust to not own it.

Right?

The next item I found was at a local boutique, Red Poppy.

But I need your help.  This is my first maxi skirt.

Do I tuck my top into the skirt or not?

similar

And is black the best color to pair with it?

HELLLLLP!!!!

Now, did I find a dress to wear to that wedding?

I did not.

But that just gives me another reason to go shopping.

Cilantro Lime Roasted Corn

Another year, another garage sale.

We all survived the 7th Annual Event this weekend.

It was a success.  And super fun ~ prancercising anyone?

Anyway.

Speaking of success, I dabbled in a corn on the cob recipe recently.  We liked it so much, that I decided to branch out and try my own concoction for corn on the cob.

I had leftover stuffing for those peppers I made last week.  And I thought, "I wonder if that cream cheese mixture would be good on roasted corn?"

So I gave it a shot.

And yes!  Yes, that cream cheese mixture WAS good on roasted corn.

Cilantro Lime Roasted Corn
(for the grill)

ears of corn (up to 6)
4 oz. cream cheese (softened)
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1/8 cup crumbled feta
2 teas. lime juice
1 teas. cumin
1/4 teas. garlic salt
butter, salt, and pepper

In a medium sized bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the cumin and garlic salt.  Add the lime juice and feta.  Finally, stir in the cilantro.  Set aside.

Brush corn with butter, salt, and pepper.  Wrap ears in foil.  Roast on the grill (top rack) for 15-20 minutes, turning the corn every five minutes.  When corn is done, remove from the grill and carefully open the foil, letting the steam out.  Let the corn cool for about two minutes.  Using a butter knife, spread the cream cheese mixture on the corn.  Chow down immediately.

If you have leftover cream cheese, use it as a veggie dip.  Or stuff some peppers

Looks like I'm making a dent in my summer list.

Still haven't re-cleaned the special room though.

Random Wednesday

I had intended on typing up a post about my Father's Day outfit........

But I got sidetracked.

I've been consumed by two things this week.

Prepping for our annual garage sale this Friday and Saturday..........

And watching this..........

I've got about four episodes left and then I'll be caught up.

#obsessed

I hear the season three finale will make me want to throw things.

I promise not to take it out on you if you stop by our garage sale this weekend.

But I might count back your change with an English accent.
