An Outfit (and an issue)

For most of my life, cell phones weren't a thing.

Within the last ten years, they really have gone from being a luxury to a necessity.

And just this week I truly discovered how addicted dependent I have become.

See.......

My "smartphone" died.  In my hands.  On Sunday.

No Instagram.  No camera.  No texting.  No world wide web at my fingertips.

Instead, Sprint gave me a "loaner" phone that isn't capable of much.  And just in case I didn't remember it wasn't mine all mine, they labeled it for me.......

Don't worry, Sprint.  You will be getting your loaner back.

Anyway.

My free time seems to have opened up this week.

So much so that I was able to guest post over at My Dear Watson.  That was fun.

I also had time to force Whitney to take silly pictures of me being disgusted with my loaner......

But really it was just a ploy to document this outfit.

I think I like green, black, and white together.  All wrapped up with a floral scarf

Just another school uniform.

Only five days left of school.

And, hopefully, only one day left without my phone!

Lately (in Instagram)

This week I.....

......discovered that nail polish remover takes ink off the inside of a dryer......

......learned that Wal-Mart carries red velvet cupcake Chapstick......

......started a new book (and I like it)......

......sampled my very first macaron (from Elle's) and experienced heaven......

......had yet another twins moment with Whitney when we both broke out the floral......

......bought flowers for the front of our house......

But now they are sitting inside my house.

Because it is snowing.

In May.

Yeah.

Recently (in Instagram)

The weekend is near.  I am good with that.

Here's what's been up on Instagram this (and last) week!

Pa took us to lunch.  We all wanted to try a new restaurant in town......

We liked Five Guys a lot!

For a Super Bowl shindig, I got my multitasking skills on.  I am thankful for my (ancient) double oven.........

Cookies on bottom.  Little smokies on top.

I might have purchased something else in the midst of my spending ban.....

When Drunken Mermaid Oddities puts vintage cameo pill boxes in her Etsy shop, you have to buy them.

Two of them.

Because you want need two of them.

And finally.

It just so happened that our hair dryer wouldn't turn on one morning before work.

And the backup quit after about ten seconds.

So I pulled out a backup for the backup.........

Third time's a charm.

More proof that hoarding is a good thing.

The Mix-up. Take Two.

It happened again.

The mister used my toothbrush.

But not on purpose.

I'm not sure why, but we always end up with toothbrushes that are similar.

I'll blame our dentist.

Anyway....

One morning I went to brush my teeth.  My toothbrush was completely gone.  Vanished.

I texted the mister.

He'd taken it to work (because he has those invisalign thingys) thinking it was his.

Sooooo.

Time for a new, super different colored toothbrush..........again.......

Moral of the story?  Always have a hot pink toothbrush on hand.

Car Update

My Saturday trip to the mechanic yielded some new problems: a leak in my power steering rod (which might be what's causing the belt to slip) and my wheel bearings are shot. BAD he said. So BACK TO the mechanic on Monday! I told them I liked them there, but not this much! He said unfortunately they didn't have a frequent flyer program. On the plus side, I won't have to be towed there again. So to make light of a yucky week of car issues.........................

Two tows...............$132
Three trips to the mechanic...................$450
No car payment.................PRICELESS

Okay, I know I'm a dork for even writing that! After Monday, I might be reconsidering the "priceless" statement!

Car Problems

So my car turned 10 years old this week, and to celebrate, it decided to QUIT on me.....more than once. The first mishap was on Monday. It simply wouldn't start. DEAD. It ended up being the battery, not a big deal! We also discovered a bad fan belt in the process, so after a quick trip to the mechanic, that was taken care of on Monday too.

Mishap two was today: On our way to IHOP, my battery light came on. Kenny thought it might be the alternator, so instead of IHOP we head to the mechanic. On the way there, in pouring rain, it DIED on Kearney. GOOD TIMES! Thanks to Kenny and two nice strangers, we got it into a Walgreens parking lot. Luckily, I had a Henry's Towing keychain in my purse (compliments of the Sertoma Chili Cook-off). Just so you know, towing is EXPENSIVE! To go approximately 6 city blocks, it cost $66! Good thing my insurance covers that. SOOOOOO we get it to my mechanic, they discover it's my fan belt again! It slipped off! Frustrating, since that was supposed to have been fixed on Monday, BUT cheap and simple!

IF ONLY! I am about halfway home from the mechanic when my battery light goes off AGAIN! Panic sets in immediately! Do I go home? Do I try to make it back to my mechanic? Kenny had dropped me off at the mechanic, so I was alone! I'm closer to home, so rather than getting stranded.......this time without Kenny........I head home. Where my car currently sits........fan belt off AGAIN! I get to be towed back to the mechanic again in the morning. I can't wait!
