A Getaway

A few months ago, a photo popped up on Instagram.  And I fell in love with the image ~ a mysterious, old church.  I needed to see this place in person.  But no road trips were in my future, so it was forgotten.

Then we got an invite for a little getaway this past weekend.  Something jogged my memory about the location of that old church.  And a few clicks later I discovered that it was just minutes away from our destination.

Cue a very. excited. Danavee.

Very.

And a determined one.  I would go by myself, if I had to.  But luckily, my friends humored me.  We took the six mile drive to a little town called McKittrick and my dream of seeing this old beauty came true.......

This was the icing on a perfect-super-fun weekend getaway......

I am easy to please.  Give me a shabby old church, and I'm happy.

Maybe a little weird too.

  2. How cute are you in front of that church? You must have a great weekend adventure. Jealous of your time with friends and that you actually got to see something instagram inspired in person. That church is quite the beauty. Is it being torn down or restored?

  6. I love old churches (or any old building) too! I would really enjoy seeing what it looks like painted white and fixed up with a bright red or dark brown door.
