Garlic Feta Burgers

After a few gray, rainy days the sun finally came out!  It was warm.  We mowed.  I loved it.

It also made me get the hankering for grilled burgers!

Cue a visit to Pinterest, where I had pinned a stuffed burger recipe that sounded like the perfect way to break in the grill.

Garlic Feta Burgers

1 lb. ground beef
1 teas. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teas. salt
1/4 teas. pepper
2 ounces crumbled feta
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teas. dried oregano
1 tbsp. Italian bread crumbs (optional)

Combine the hamburger, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and bread crumbs until well mixed.  (Adding bread crumbs helps keep the burger from falling apart while grilling.)  Form the beef into six very thin patties.  Mix feta, garlic, and oregano in a small bowl.  Add some feta mixture to the middle of three of the patties.  Use the three remaining patties to cover the feta.  Press the sides of each patty together to seal them closed.  Grill burgers, flipping them at least once, until done (which depends on personal preference).  Toast the inside of the buns on the grill right before serving them.  Add hamburger to bun, top with leftover feta or condiments of your choice.

These were outstanding!!!  The mister LOVED them!  This recipe is a keeper.

I think that stuffed burgers are my new favorite domestic escapade.  I have two more recipes lined up that I can't wait to try!

Yahoo for spring weather and grilling!!!!

This Week (Instagram Style)

Lately:

I got to have dinner with my bff's......

These girls.  I like em.  So much fun.

Chips, salsa, queso..........and self-timer pics from Nancy's car bumper.  Good, good times.

 *   *   *   *

 Broke out the Silver Dollar City Season Pass on Saturday.......

You can't leave the park without eating a funnel cake.

It's a rule.

At least it should be.

*   *   *   *

I got to meet a blog buddy in person!!!!!!!!!

What are the chances Sara would be in town!?!  Schlag and I were super lucky that we got to hang out with her!!!!!!

She might have us convinced we should move to St. Louis!

*   *   *   *

Kelly Clarkson celebrated her birthday on Wednesday.  I decided she needed a little fan love shout out on Instagram.......

I secretly hoped she would notice.  And heart my photo.

Or tell me she wanted to be my bff.

Maybe she's just waiting to thank me in person at her concert I'll be going to in August.

Yes, that must be it.

*   *   *   *

And finally, the glasses arrived........

One of my darlings at school, who did not hear that they were actually real, legit glasses was quite excited that I got "nerd glasses just like hers".

Awesome.

Not exactly the look I was going for.

What I Wore (school uniform)

There is nothing outstanding about this outfit I'm sharing today.

Except maybe the fun detail on the back of my new chambray top (which was covered by my cardigan ~ it is not sleeveless top weather yet).

This outfit is just another version of what I call my school uniform...........

What IS amazing about wearing those pants, however, is that those winter white skinnies made it through an entire day of school unscathed.

I've gone through my fair share of khakis to feel jubilation over this.

No run-ins with a Sharpie or Expo.

Or even tomato soup in the lunchroom.

Small victory.

Vintage Love (a centerpiece)

Sometimes hoarding comes in very handy.

Like when you're inspired by a pin.....

source

And you want to recreate your own version of it.

Well.......if you're a hoarder, then you might just have everything you need.......

One vintage wire milk bottle carrier + four vintage Ball Mason jars = pretty new vase!

All I had to do was brave my attic to retrieve those jars!

See!?

More proof that hoarding is good.

Boothiversary (2nd Edition)

I can't believe it's been two years since it all started!

Having a booth at Relics has blossomed into one of my favorite hobbies.

I love staging it, creating little vignettes.  I love shopping for it.  I love dropping in and finding an empty spot where something used to be.

To celebrate my boothiversary, I'm having a 10% off sale through the rest of April!

If you're a local friend, drop by Relics and visit the booth!  And if you end up taking something home, let me know what you picked out!  One new local friend took home a vintage suitcase recently!  I loved finding out she had purchased it!

Happy shopping!

Weekly Recap (in Instagram)

This week:

I went to my first ever eye exam.  The prognosis:  astigmatism.  I now have contacts.  But I also ordered glasses......

See that middle pair on the counter?  Those will be mine!

*   *   *   *

Sir Chester got a cousin.......

The mister's sister brought this little baby home.  It was basically love at first sight.

*   *   *   *

I had a cookie craving.  Specifically, Hot Chocolate Cookies, so I broke out the KitchenAide.......

They hit the spot.

*   *   *   *

One #ootd to share........my thrifted Michael Kors top........

I'd been waiting all winter to break that baby out.

*   *   *   *

And a little mid-week treasure hunting did occur......

I'll probably hoard the mirror and fixture.  But I do believe I'll add the McCoy planter to the booth soon.

And speaking of the booth, I just celebrated my second boothiversary!

Having a booth is the perfect excuse to keep on hoarding thrifting.

But I think the mister's on to me.

What We Wear

On purpose.

Once a year.

For the first day of state achievement testing.....

Our special shirts that say, "#2 is #1 if you're a pencil."

I mean, that's funny.

Right?

Maybe only if you're a teacher?

Anyway.

I know our twin days are usually star-crossed and unplanned.  But once a year, Whit and I have to break these out.

How else will we remind the kiddos that mechanical pencils just won't do for filling in those bubbles!?

Vintage Love: Something Blue

About once a year, all self-control flies out the window, and I purchase something big.

It's all Pheona's fault.

Pheona's is a monthly antique sale in Billings, MO.  The vendors work very hard to curate perfect booths.  The selection is amazing.  The vendors are lovely ~ I always see old friends and meet new friends too.  Also, the prices are great.

And I always fall victim.

Two years ago, I came home with this..........

It now resides in the special room.

Last year, I showed a little more restraint and brought something home that could fit in my car........

It's also in the special room (holding vintage pillows).

But this year.

This.

Year.

I purchased something large again.

Something I'd been dreaming of owning for a very long time.

Something I was sort of scared to mention to the mister.

So I decided to break the news in a public place, with friends by my side.

Friends who like to photograph moments such as these.  Moments where I whisper, "Ijustboughtvintagelockers."

Cheese dip always softens the blow.

The mister took it quite well.  I have a good mister.

And now I have turquoise vintage lockers..........

I never dreamed I'd find a set that were the perfect shade of green-blue.

But Pheona's did it again!

Vintage locker perfection.

And the mister is still talking to me.

#Winning!

This Week (in Instagram)

Lately:

I hit up my first yard sale of the season.......

Thanks to a friend's text, I was able to hit up a great sale!

I can't resist little tables.

*   *   *   *

I got something fun in the mail........

I've been wanting some paper straws.  Just because.

Chevrons make them even better.

 *   *   *   *

I finished Insurgent whilst sitting on the porch ~ in shorts ~ sunning.........

Best sequel I've ever read.

Loving this series.

Loved the short-lived spring weather too.

  *   *   *   *

By mid-week, however, there was no more sunning on the porch.  We even had flurries yesterday.

So instead of fun spring dresses, I had to break out the scarves and boots again.......

But I did get to try out my new favorite scarf.

Not that that makes the chilly weather okay.

Spring, what is going on!?!

*   *   *   *

I was so cold yesterday, that when I got home and discovered my favorite magazine had arrived, I just had to do this.........

It's one of my favorite rituals.

I needed a serene moment.  Because I still hadn't done my taxes.  And that was my goal last night.  To sit down with Turbo Tax.

Nothing like waiting til last minute.

That's how I roll.

What I Wore (Pinspiration)

A few weeks ago, I purchased a dress from Old Navy....

I loved it, but I really wasn't sure how to style it.  I'm too tall for it to work as a dress.  So I knew I'd need tights.

My mustard tights just didn't look right.  White tights felt wrong.

But then I found a pin that completely fixed my problem....

source

And it wouldn't require a trip to the mall!  I had everything I needed to recreate this look!

I just couldn't decide where the belt should go..........over or under?

And how about that cardigan!?!  Not only is it mint, it's short-sleeved

Do you know what that means?  It's getting warm around here!!!

Two words:  spring fever.

Sugar 'n Spice VoxBox

Recently, I received another Voxbox from Influenster!  These boxes are always free, and I have to say, that this box rocked.  Every last item turned out to be great!

And they aren't making me say that.

Here, I'll prove it.

First, the loot.........

Colgate Optic White ~ The combination of the brush, mouthwash, and toothpaste are simply dynamic.  No joke.  I really feel like this stuff works!  In fact, I will be buying the toothpaste when we run out.  And I was a devout Crest girl.

Dickinson's Towelettes ~ These are little face wipes that you can take on the go.  Or if you are a lazy face-washer (like me), they are perfect right before bedtime!  They make your face feel really fresh, and they really do clean well!

Nectresse Sweetener ~  I'll be honest.  I'm not a fan of sweeteners in general.  So this was even a stretch for me to try.  But I did and was surprised.  I put it in my Grape Nuts, and it tasted just like I'd added my regular spoonful of sugar.  This is all natural and made from monk fruit!

Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer ~ I was super skeptical of this "lotion" at first.  Then I used it and might never go back.  It sprays on, you rub it in, and it soaks into your skin.  And you don't have to wait to slide your jeans on because you are not left slimy or greasy at all!

BelVita Breakfast Biscuits ~ I devoured these as soon as I opened this Voxbox.  They kept me from snacking til dinner (which is a habit of mine).  They are very tasty.  I will definitely buy them again, especially since I'm not a very good breakfast eater.  These might just turn me around!

*   *   *   *

Now if my testimony isn't enough, would it help if you knew the mister tried to steal most of this stuff?

He totally is using the toothpaste and mouthwash.  He stole one of my towelettes to try out.  Annnnnd he is using the Vaseline Moisturizer daily.

He's lucky it just smells like lotion and not flowers!

Weekly Recap (Instagram Style)

This week:

I fell in love with a new series..........

Read Divergent last weekend.  So good.

Was quite sad that there were 62 holds on book two at the library.  But a sweet friend came to the rescue with Insurgent.  I hope to finish it this coming weekend.

And then the wait will be on for book three to be published!

*   *   *   *

Got a pretty bouquet for Easter........

I love having fresh flowers around the house.

*   *   *   *

Something great arrived in the mail.........

Huge angel wings are a necessity for any household, right?

I'm thinking special room.

I mean, I just had to have them when I saw them hanging above Nancy's bed.

*   *   *   *

A friend alerted me to the existence of red velvet Pop-Tarts.........

It only took three different grocery stores to find them.

So.  Worth.  It.

Find some.  Toast them.  Love them.

 *   *   *   *

Something made me hit up the thrift last night.  And I thanked my lucky stars........

Otherwise, I would have missed out on vintage sweater perfection.

The mister was not a fan.

But when did that ever stop me?

What I Wore (thrifted gingham)

I noticed a common theme in my Instagram feed today.

Two similar pictures.  About a week apart.

I guess this is what I'd call my school uniform.

My favorite boots, skinnies of some sort, Starbucks.   And lately, gingham button down shirts.

I like gingham.  Is gingham still cool even?  Do I care?  While at the thrift I always skim the racks for it.

These were both found with the original tags still attached at a local thrift shop.........the gray is from Gap...........and the chartreuse is J. Crew (eeeekkk)!!!

With the weather being so fickle ~ spring one day, sleet the next ~ this is a good season-transition type of outfit.  I can roll my sleeves if it's warm........or unroll them if it's chilly and throw on a cardigan.

The Starbucks is just an addiction.

Or an accessory?
