A Cheap D.I.Y.

I stumbled upon this project recently.......

source

And then I kicked myself for passing up a $2.00 spice rack the week prior.  But another trip to the thrift store yielded a little beauty that would do just fine......

After that ivory coat of spray paint, which I already had in my stockpile of colors, the total for this little redo was $1.48........

What's that you say?  You're distracted by my awesomely awful wallpaper?

Well, don't be jealous.  My 1967 time capsule came with that loveliness.

I'll save a scrap for you when I rip it off the wall this summer.  Please send me your address.

  2. Great DIY project.
Really, the first thing I thought about your wall paper was thinking about covering an old foot locker trunck with it, doing a journal cover, etc.
Would love to have a section of that wall paper.

    1. If it comes off in large sections, I'd be happy to send some your way! But it'll be awhile......June or July!

  3. I had a dream last night that Schlager won the giveaway. I was ticked. And yes, I do own an ironing board thank you. It is purely for domestic looking decoration however.

  5. That is some awesome wallpaper...I was thinking how cool it would be to have that somewhere in my house!!! Hey...neat project here! I had found a wooden spice rack alongside the road about 8 years ago, painted it blue, with some tole roses for detail, and I still store all my small acrylic paint bottles in it! They really come in handy!!!

  7. Love the wallpaper, too. And that is an awesome idea but I have too much nail polish (I didn't just say that! ) for the little shelf

  8. Very cool idea! Bet I've got you beat on the wallpaper though....my mobile home is paneled with lovely monstrosities like that in both bathrooms. Thank God the rest of the house is plain wood paneling!
