Lately...

Some fallifying of the house took place.  Big red mums are good.  So are vintage watering cans..........

A vintage screen door was purchased at the thrift.........

This is also good.

Except if you consider my hoarding tendencies.

If hoarding is a problem, then I guess it's bad.

And while we're talking about hoarding, is it also bad that I bought a vintage corner sink just because I've never seen one out in the wild?

I mean, so what that it's for a non-existent corner bathroom for our next house that we have yet to look for!?

Anyway.

The mister got a wild hare mid-week to hit up a Chief's game.....

And boy, was it ugly.

Booing the quarterback and all.

Sad times. The Chief's lost.

But you can't beat road trip necessities..........

Even if they tell you some discouraging news about your favorite Bachelorette couple.

I'm still rooting for them.

Thrifted: Wear or Sell?

Not too long ago, I decided to expand my antique booth horizon.  I wanted to try peddling vintage clothing, so I tested the water with a few blouses.  Then I graduated to dresses, skirts, and sweaters.

And by golly, they are selling.

This excites me.  But it's also a problem.

I end up wanting to keep half the items I purchase for my booth.

Case in point?

A few items meant for my booth........might not make it there.....

Let's talk about these items, shall we?

Left photo........vintage pleated skirt and geometric print blouse...........throw a belt around it, slip into some cute shoes, and head to work.

Middle photo...........vintage peplum anyone?  It hails from the late 70's/early 80's.  I even found this dress on Etsy.  Again, throw a belt on, put on the heels, and hit up a New Year's Eve party!?!

Right photo..........80's sweater.  I think its glorious-ness speaks for itself.  A fun, casual addition to skinny jeans.

Then there was this bracelet......

After being marked down to $1.48, it needed a home (mine).

So.

Get real with me.

What should I ticket and take to the booth?

Orrrrr what do I make room in my closet for?

Lazy Lasagna

Awhile back, a blog buddy posted a recipe for lasagna.

Made it.  Loved it.

More recently, in a not-wanting-to-grocery-shop mood, I decided that I wanted to attempt making my own version using what I had on hand.

I had no boil noodles that I wanted to use up, along with some other basics.  But this would be an experiment, as I didn't even have sausage.  And the only cheese I had was a Mexican blend.

And let me tell you.  Using the Mexican cheddar blend was the best accident ever......

Lazy Lasagna
(adapted from Two Things in Common)

1 lb. hamburger
1 large jar of marinara
1 teas. parsley
1 teas. Italian seasoning
1 teas. oregano
garlic salt to taste
box of no boil noodles
shredded Mexican cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly mist a 9 x 9 inch baking dish with cooking spray.  Brown the hamburger.  Add the seasonings and marinara.  Simmer for a few minutes.  Next, in the baking dish, add a layer of the uncooked noodles.  (I had to break mine in half, since I was using a 9 x 9.)  Pour the meat sauce over the noodles and top with a layer of cheese.  Repeat the layering with noodles, sauce, and cheese two more times.  Cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.

Being too lazy to get the correct ingredients actually panned out!  And the 9 x 9 size was perfect for the two of us.  Just the right amount of leftovers too.

I even think I'll stick to the Mexican cheese blend next time.  It gave it a little kick.

Sometimes it pays to avoid the grocery store.

oops, I did it again...

Wore mustard and navy, that is.

I know I sported that color combo last week.  But there were these jeans that I just had to have.........

And I needed to coordinate my outfit with some new accessories.

Band-aids.

So mustard jeans just made the most sense.......

Band-aids are necessary when you have a texting and walking mishap.

It's possible that I smashed right into a stupid concrete parking thingy......

And the carnage was tragic.

But seriously.

Why isn't that last one lined up with the rest of them?

My little piggies still haven't recovered.

A Getaway

A few months ago, a photo popped up on Instagram.  And I fell in love with the image ~ a mysterious, old church.  I needed to see this place in person.  But no road trips were in my future, so it was forgotten.

Then we got an invite for a little getaway this past weekend.  Something jogged my memory about the location of that old church.  And a few clicks later I discovered that it was just minutes away from our destination.

Cue a very. excited. Danavee.

Very.

And a determined one.  I would go by myself, if I had to.  But luckily, my friends humored me.  We took the six mile drive to a little town called McKittrick and my dream of seeing this old beauty came true.......

This was the icing on a perfect-super-fun weekend getaway......

I am easy to please.  Give me a shabby old church, and I'm happy.

Maybe a little weird too.

What I Wore (Pinterest Inspired)

I noticed a trend in my clothing pins recently.....

1//2//3//4

I guess I have a thing for that goldenish-mustard color.  Paired with stripes or navy.  And brown accessories.

So I went on a cardigan hunting mission, a dress search, and a belt dig.  Then realized I may have found my new favorite outfit..........

And with the promise of fall in the air, I am fully ready for cardigans.

Layers.

Scarves.

Boots too.

Oh, and pumpkins.  All things pumpkin.

My Ugly Laundry Room

One of my summer goals was to redo our laundry room (and half bath).

That didn't happen.

But now it could.  Because I'm entering a contest.  If I happened to win, Vintage Revivals and all her lovely sponsors would come to my house and fix up my laundry room.

EEEEKKKK!

So now I have to prove my case.

I mean, really the pictures say it all.  We don't even put toilet paper on the roll anymore as this commode malfunctions consistently.  And by malfunctions I mean we have to use every single towel in our house to mop up the overflow.....

A non-working toilet is pretty bad.  But it does get worse.......

I think the rest of the issues can best be expressed in a poem.  It's my favorite way to plead a case.....

My Ugly Laundry Room

Please fix my laundry, oh the reasons why
If you saw it, it'd make you cry

The floor is vintage vinyl, yellowed from age
And under the washer it was ripped in a rampage

Walls are adorned in seventies wallpaper
It's ugly and peeling and must undergo a scraper

An outdated light fixture and chipped sink too
This 1967 time capsule makes me very blue

Did I mention the toilet never flushes the right way?
Every time we try, we must mop in dismay

Please come to my rescue Vintage Revivals and crew
If you come through, I'll forever be true

So.

Now it's out of my hands and into yours.  Winners will be selected by YOU!  You can vote for my ugly laundry room by visiting Vintage Revivals, finding my entry (#131), and casting your vote for me.

I would flip out if I got a few votes.  And I would be ever so grateful.  Love you forever and all that stuff.

May the odds be ever in my favor.

Sorry.  I couldn't resist.
