This Week (in Instagram)

I hit up Silver Dollar City with my sis and her bebes.......

Taffy is a requirement when visiting SDC.

I tried out a "diy shellac" found on Pinterest........

You need time and patience for this.

One coat of the gel, then dry time.  Two coats of any polish, with dry time in between.  Top it off with one layer of the top coat.

It lasted about three days.  So better than your average polish, but not as good as a legit shellac.

Got my first pool visit in with the sis.........

We'll just call my niece "Diving Board Diva" because she was glued to that thing all afternoon.

And while we're talking about the little diva, here she is again at her recital the other night..........

I am basically positive that she is the most beautiful ballerina in all the land.

And finally.

My friend Pullan is very good at getting creative birthday gifts.

We had both talked about trying out a hot yoga class, so she surprised me with a gift certificate.  I loved this gift.

Last night, we went to our first class........

And as stated on Instagram, it was the "day I almost died".

When they call it hot yoga, they mean hot yoga.  87 degrees hot.

I lived through summer after summer of band camp as a color guard instructor.

I know what hot is.

But this.

A whole different level of hot.  I.could.not.breathe.  And sweat.  Ohhhhh the sweat.

I'd rather go running.

And we all know my track record with that.

Two more classes to go.

  1. I remember filling my water bottle with ice and opening it from time to time as mini air conditioner during hot yoga. It was hard to not laugh at the grunting and heavy breathing taking place by the hard core people in the room. Can't wait to see you soon!!!!

  2. I have a love-hate relationship with hot yoga... It feels good to sweat so much, but it's kind of miserable!

  3. I love taffy. And I love that picture of your niece diving into the pool. And I love the name "hot yoga." I think it's funny. The instructor would be your "hot yoga instructor." It sounds awful, though. Good luck. // Have a great week! xo, ab

  4. Ha! I love that you said you would rather go running...that is funny. I would have to agree, your niece is the cutest ballerina in all the land. And, she is also the most adventurous, jumping off that diving board.

  5. Yikes! Hot Yoga- you are a survivor! :o)

Love the diva photo of your little girl- so sweet!

Aren't shellac manicures the best? I wish I had one every week.

    Have a great weekend!

  9. Boo, that stinks that the DIY shellac didn't last that long. I'd love to find an alternative to shellac! Have a great weekend!

  13. Hot yoga...who the heck thought that would be a good idea?! Lets get people to bend every which way on little rubber mats, then lets make them sweat like they stole something. They'll slip all over the mats, it will be freaking hilarious!
Ha! Madness! Glad you're having a great week!

  16. We almost took the kiddo to SDC for his bray Wednesday, but decided to try later instead. I haven't been in years. And I've been using Revlon's version of a gel mani for months now and love it. Two base coats, two color coats, and finally two top coats. Yep. Six layers of polish. BUT. It looks great for at least 6-7 days and looks decent for two weeks. Also it's cheap.
Your little ballerina is totally adorable. :) And hot yoga was clearly invented by terrorists. Seriously. Who wants to do that to themselves. Yikes. :)
    Hope your weekend is awesome!

  17. That taffy looks yummy and your niece is adorable! And GOOD FOR YOU for trying hot yoga! I think Bikrum is usually hotter, so don't try that! I like warm yoga, the heat warms my muscles and I love the sweaty feeling....but I'm weird like that.
