Thrifting Frenzy

Christmas break thrifting was g.o.o.d.

I found two suitcases..........

They both match my special room.

I think I'll keep them.

Shocking, right?

I already had the larger mate of the light green Samsonite.  So I was very excited to add the travel case to my collection.

I don't collect this pattern of Pyrex, but my parents had these plates when I was little......

You know I'm a sentimental fool.

*   *   *   *

I've kind of started to like afghans.

However, this one is not my style at all.

But when I looked it up on ebay, the prices were shocking.......

So that makes me want to keep it.

*   *   *   *

And lastly, a silly vintage dress.........

Vintage dresses and skirts are overflowing at home.

I do not need to purchase a single article of clothing for the entire month of January.

We'll see how long that lasts.

Resolutions and shopping bans are really a joke around here.

But I am going to try to drink more water.

  1. Wow, I am in love with both of those suitcases. I really think thrifting takes a certain eye because I feel like I don't ever find anything. Also, I know what you mean about shopping and buying clothes... it is the death of me!

  5. I love that you have resolved to drink more water. I laughed when I read that. Your finds are wonderful. I would have the same problem that you have, I wouldn't ever want to put anything in my booth (not that I have a booth), I'd want to keep it all. I love that you want to keep the afghan because of how much similar ones are selling for on ebay. That is hilarious.

  9. Your "drink more water" resolution make me laugh. I love it! (Actually, I'm not even sure I'd succeed at that one, given the extent of my Diet Coke addiction.) I love all your finds. The flowered suitcase is SO CUTE.

  12. You can never have too many suitcases, can you? Thrifting around here has been a big old bust. I was expecting to find a lot of stuff after Christmas, but so far it's been pretty barren.

  15. You for sure have to keep the suitcases! The colors are incredible and will look so nice in your room. I've seen afghans going for a lot lately too. I guess when one considers how much time went into making it, it kind of makes sense.

  22. Great finds as usual! And you really should photgraph that dress ON. Vintage dresses often look so sad and dated (in a sad way) on a hanger, and then you put them on, and they look good all over. Darling suitcases too btw.

  23. I thought I would share a bit of information on that first suitcase you have posted. I too have one. I found it last summer at a local parking garage sale a neighboring city has every year. I was ecstatic when I saw it. I had to have it. It, or one likes it, has memories attached to me. You see, it is not a suitcase that was made for vacation nor overnight stays. No. It was the case an Avon lady would have used to store and carry her samples, brochures and order booklets. My best friend's mom was one when we were growing up! Oh the fun we had playing Avon lady and looking at her new shipment of orders that came in the mail. They were boxes with the same blue/green colored lettering on the box. Oh we had fun! That is whyi had to have it when I saw it! It is beautiful!

  28. $40 for that blanket? Never would have guessed.

    I tried to do that last year... drink more water. Didn't work. Maybe this year.

  29. I know what you mean. My husband didn't want me to spend over $100 this week. Unfortunately, the car needed gas and the dog needed food. $ ≠ 0
